Hot Wheels Storage & Display for Grade Preservation

⊙ Quick answer

How should I store carded Hot Wheels to preserve the grade?

Use UV-filtering acrylic protectors (Mijo, Protech), keep storage at 60-70°F and 40-50% humidity, store flat or vertical (never tilted), and stay out of direct or window-filtered sunlight. Done right, a Mint card stays Mint for decades.

Pre-grading tells you what the card is worth today. Storage tells you what it'll be worth in five years. A mint card with bad storage drops to NM in 2 years; with good storage it stays mint for life.

The four environmental enemies

UV (yellowing), humidity (warp, bubble separation), temperature swings (blister stress cracks), and physical contact (corners, edges, scratches). Acrylic protectors solve #4 entirely and most of #1.
